New Hampshire Fish & Game Department
NH Fish and Game's Nongame and Endangered Wildlife Program, established in 1988, is the steward for the state's nongame wildlife -- species not hunted, fished or trapped. Through wildlife monitoring and management, plus outreach and education, the Nongame Program works to protect over 400 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians, as well as thousands of insects and other invertebrates. The program works in cooperation with other New Hampshire agencies and organizations to develop and implement effective conservation strategies to protect and enhance this diverse group of wildlife.
University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension
UNH Cooperative Extension wildlife and natural resources specialists provide research-based education to landowners and communities, helping them make informed decisions concerning their land, which often includes managing habitat for a diversity of wildlife, including pollinators. UNH Extension wildlife staff also provide support for conservation and education efforts related to species of conservation need in New Hampshire, including the development of educational resources, educational trainings and workshops, and participatory science efforts.
Harris Center for Conservation Education
The Harris Center is a donor-supported, non-profit organization in the Monadnock Region that promotes understanding and respect for the natural world through education of all ages, direct protection and exemplary stewardship of the region’s natural resources, conservation research, and programs that encourage active participation in the great outdoors.
NH Audubon
Founded in 1914, NH Audubon is a nonprofit, statewide membership organization that provides environmental education programs throughout the state, statewide conservation research and wildlife monitoring, protection of nearly 10,000 acres of wildlife habitat in 39 sanctuaries, and environmental public policy and science-based advocacy.
Tin Mountain Conservation Center
Tin Mountain Conservation Center is a non-profit providing education programs for school children, adults, and families that foster greater awareness and understanding of the natural environment. Since 1980, the Center has offered hands-on programs in the schools, at summer camps, and within communities throughout northern New Hampshire and western Maine.
Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust
Ausbon Sargent Land Presentation Trust works to preserve and protect the rural character of the Mt. Kearsarge/Ragged/Lake Sunapee region for public benefit through land conservation, stewardship, community commitment, and organizational integrity.
There are also national organizations that support butterfly monitoring efforts across the country.
